Musical Stump?

Anybody ever make one of these? Now that my people-powered mini-sawmill is all designed, I want to end up with a (hollowed-out as required) stump - when a quarter is inserted in a slot, it will play music (of my choice) for a given period of time. This is kinda a new challenge for me - i can run little wires and use a whole attic for accessories if needed - any ideas?

Now DeadCarp, you generally are right on target, but on this one I think you is a lttle confused. Stumps ain't supposed to make music they's just supposed to be stumps and they don't take no quarters neither. Now, I recommend you take a couple snorts of your uncle's Bloomer Solvent and lie down and take a little nap and you'll feel a heap better in the morning.

Now I'm stumped as well. I have seen and heard the stalacpipe organ in the Luray Caverns of Virginny, though.

Easiest thought that comes to my warped mind is one of them electronic car horns that play several different tunes thru a PA type speaker,Usually they play a given number of notes, then quit.Song titles(15-20) are selected from or programed thru keypad........Coin slot with microswitch at bottom would trip 1 cycle as coin passed switch.

I sorry. That whole thing went clean over my head, and scared me a little. Do you have pics of this marvel of technology?

Sorry, no pictures (yet) and don't worry, i'm not using anything flammable this time - heh heh.
Gotta let the old craters in the woods heal over a bit before playing with that stuff again. My knees are some better than they were right after launch though - i mean lunch. (swelling's gone down where i can sit upright in the outhouse and they only bend one way again :)

Never heard of a musical stump? Me neither - kinda adds to the intrigue doesn't it? Ya'd think everybody would have one by now ....... :)

Oh, I'd want one, it's that quarter thing that bugs me.

Well....I.....uh......think maybe.....uh, maybe I'll just wait a bit......had a bad experience, when I was a youngster, with musical chairs, and it left me mentaly think I might sit this one out......have a gooder R.E.L.

Well, grove r, as I've said before, you need to get yourself a good Tasmanian Pig Hound for companionship. (Now I knows you likes them little ol' Jack Daniels dogs and all) Yessiree bob, if you aint got any of them pigs just let em out after dark and they'll get ya a couple. If they can't find a pig they might bring back one them music playin' stumps. Not that any self respecting ETD enthusiast would want a stump anyway. I remember one time ol' Gimpleg and me was down in Belize, teaching K9 stuff to them Special Air Service boys and....well a course that information is covered by the Official Secrets Act.

This whole thing has me "stumped". You guys keep "branching out" in these forums and I'm getting confused. Well, I'd better "leaf" right now or momma will get mad at me, maybe I'll "root around" a bit before I get to bed. Oh - oh, the neighbours gonna be mad, the dog is "barking". I'll give him a whippin' from "stem" to stern. "Wood" I ever like to have a silent dog.

"Silent" dogs are not too poplar in my neck of the woods, though I do pine for one.....think I might have to stick to the oak ones I have, maybe just spruce them up a bit, had to timber up on one the other nite because he woodn't stop sawing logs in his sleep......fir awhile there, he was just board, could tell the way he lumberd around........have to go now, R.E.L.

DeadCarp - silent dog?    Posted 07-23-2002 at 06:05:22       [Reply]  [No Email]
Easy fix for a dog that barks - find a couple soft thingies about the size of a cigarette filter
and cram one in each ear! Also helps for kids, wife, inlaws and the boss.(oh, i already mentioned her - heh heh) and remember, they make less noise when they're eating.....
Practice looking around confused and using the word, "WHUT?!!!" :)
