Questions about my hens

Chickens R 2 Cool    Posted 07-23-2002 at 19:52:37       [Reply]  [No Email]
Hi

I only have three hens right now, we did have a
rooster but we had to give him away! :( ...he
was realy sweet too! Anyway, I got my
chickens when they were chicks and they
hatched in early March 2002. When will they
start laying? I have them on lay crumbles right
now and we let them out during the day. With
my past chickens they would start laying
around now. Might they be laying in the yard
where we can't see the eggs or are they still
too young?

I'm not really sure if the breed of the chicken
makes a difference but I have an Araucana,
Rhode Island Red, and a Silver Laced
Wyandotte hen.

If someone could clue me in a bit than that
would be nice :)

Five months of age is about when they start laying so...in a couple or three weeks. What'd you give the rooster away for?

His crowing. He didn't bother me but he did
bother everyone else in the family! He's one of
the second roosters we've had that was nice.
