Planet Jr low wheel cultivator

I've been looking at a reproduction Planet Jr wheel hoe in the Lehman's catalog for years, but the price has always kept me from buying one.

Well, got lucky yesterday and found an original Planet Jr in working condition at a flea market for next-to-nothing.

Anybody have any hints on accessories that are worthwhile getting? It came with the cultivator, but the hoe blades look useful since I'm always a couple of weeks behind the weeds...anybody have any experience with it? It really does push easier than my hi-wheel cultivator, so I think I'll be using it quite a bit.

Also, I know I can get parts and an owner's manual thru Lehman's, but I'd like to paint up this old tool so it looks original. Anybody know the paint scheme...looks like green with maybe red trim?

Tom I linked in for Powell. They bought out Planet Jr years ago and still have the info and you can still get parts for the planter.

I called the 800# they have listed and they were nice enough to send me manuals on a Planet Jr multi row and some old Cole planters for free. They even paid the postage.

They are customer friendly folks and the prices they get on parts aint too bad.

Thanks Burrhead, I appreciate the info!

I'm going to give them a call. Glad to hear that they are customer-friendly, as so few places seem to be anymore.

I got off rambling around and found a 1 row 3 point Planet Jr planter.

When I asked the feller what he wanted for it he said just load it and get it out of his way cause he had lost the seed plates.

I called the Powell folks to see what parts I could still get for it. They sent me all the manuals and instructions. The lady did'nt even laff at dumb questions and said call again if I needed to.

That feller had'nt lost the plates for the planter, it never had any. You adjust the flow by rotating a permanent plate to whatever you want to plant.
