hey yall,
growing up in the south the yard had these tall grass like things in it. it was like you would mow and they would pop up over night.
they were tall and at the top there was a V shape. it was covered in fluffy little things. we always called it black v grass or wish grass.

anyone know what i am talking about?

thanks for the help....
cerridwen(who spent 2 hours last night looking for this online! ugh!)

I have that grass for a lawn and have discovered
from a local farmer it is known as Bahiagrass! You can type it in your internet search engine and find out all you need. By the way, I'm in North Carolina. Hope this helps!

You may be talking about smut grass. We have a lot of it. Before the age of lawn mowers in every pot, folks usually had black marks on their pants legs from the knee down.
