Having only spent a small portion of one day in Tehas, far be it from me to pretend to understand how things work there. Howsomever, I think if I was doin some fish braggin I wouldn't pronounce it the way it's spelt neither.";^)

CRAPPIE In South Florida = SPECKLED PERCH. We have a festivle the second weekend of March every year here in Okeechobee called the Speckled Perch festivle

I think crappies are ganging up on us a little - i've eaten orange roughy (sea perch in Australia)
the white crappies (white perch) breem (brim) and our local ones. they all seem to be cousins. Darn good though, no matter what you call them. By contrast, ever seen a Dolly Vardon? Yuck - great on the plate but looks like a squashed skull!
