Hog Pen
[Return to Topics]

Hey Willy N!    Posted 08-25-2002 at 09:08:05       [Reply]  [No Email]
I am looking out my window at our two hogs ripping up their pen (Again) and I was wondering how
your hog pen has made out now that your hogs are bigger? Do they have large hole rutted out to rest in?
Let us see a picture as inquiring minds want to know. Thanks

Hers that picture for ya. Shelby did a fine job raising those pigs. She also watched the slauter till they went into the truck. She will make a good Farmers Wife someday! Got a good start on what it takes allready. Mark H.

I posted a picture in the photo gallery. Sorry there are no pigs in it but we just had them butchered. Not one escaped. They had two big wallows in the pen but they didn't dig near the fence. I think this design works very well and will last a long time.

Every time i think about your place and the pond and the hills and everything - i can just imagine a whole crowd of local people parked all over, carting coolers and sitting on hillsides and watching a mudrun or tractor pull or some such event at the pond. Anybody else see this?

DC, I often get that vision but it's always followed by a vision of Mark running them off with a 12Ga.:<)

We were considering having a mud wrestling match earlier when the pond still had some water in it but the cows would have tried to join the fun and that could get dangerous.

Just curious. Hope you don't think I'm trying to make fun of you, 'cause I'm not, but I wondered why you call your place "Promise Land Ranch" instead of "Promised Land Ranch". There must be a reason, non?

I guess "Promised" is a little harder to say than "Promise". We named our ranch after a show called "Promise Land" and we have always wanted a place in the middle of no where and since UPS doesn't pick up in the middle of Alaska we had to settle for Okanogan.
Hope this helps.
