Some people I know that had trouble sleeping at night, found out that they had a calcium imbalance and started taking a calcium supplement, had almost immediate results.

ger    Posted 08-28-2002 at 13:04:16       [Reply]  [No Email]

If you don't see any help from it try taking it at night before you go to bed.

ger    Posted 08-28-2002 at 17:22:07       [Reply]  [No Email]

Hu Ger,
Sorry to hear about your sleeping problem. I do know that sugar is a bad thing to have before bedtime. Honey is what i was using and then I got back to using sugar. Guess what? 2Am 3AM 4AM.
I don't get up at six(That's unhuman like). All kidding aside try the sleepytime tea as Toni said. It works for us.

hey dennis i though youd starved no sugar for me now except from the maple suyrp on pancakes , i used to live on chocolate but have pretty much quit it all together, im gonna try some honey on toast tonight , i think the longer it goes on it becomes a way of life an i,ll never get back to normal , whatever that was lol , catch ya later dennis. ger

Ger, one natural herb used for those who can't take meds is melatonin. You can buy it anywhere they sell vitamins and such, drugstore, walmart etc. It comes in pill form but may be a liquid as well. I used it before and it does work. I can't sleep either, but mine's a toothache/headache so I just tylenol it and wait til it works. Chamomile tea is a natural sedative and as EI said, honey is good. Maybe try honey lemon in warm water. Both honey and lemon are sleep aids. Sorry , much sympathy, from another vampire, Rachel

haha thanks rachel , i tried meltonin too an all i got was a headache , i take 3 tylenol no.3 for my back before i go to bed an usually end up again in a couple of hrs taking 2 more i think thaats what finally helps me get to sleep around 3or 4 usually getting near daylight.

Forgot to tell you. I used to work with mentally disabled and melatonin was used for some autistic, very hyper people. That's where I got the idea and used it. Rachel, again Worked well on me and them. Never said I was normal, tho.

What a bummer. I hate it when that happens.

I like the walk idea. You could try a boring book, watch TV-put a video in? Eat some popcorn and have a hot chocolate.

(My favorite idea is the cooking sherry though!)

Good Luck! Sweet Dreams!

You can always chat with Dennis he is usually ready to go to bed when I get up about 4:30am. He can never sleep that well either. I can always tell when he has been up - dishes by his chair.

Anyway, this is what I tell Dennis, do not snack before you go to bed re: candy, chips, pretzels, pudding, pie, lets put it this way anything that is considered "goodies".

You might want to try the SleepyTime Tea - it works for me - if you can't get it there let me know and I can send you a package - It is decaf and all natural made by Celestial Seasonings. You could put honey in it. Honey is a natural tranquillizer.

As I was writing this I went to check on the tea brand and there is Dennis sitting in the "KING'S" chair, flicker (remote) in hand, eating pretzels. Guess you both will be up tonight.

Another idea you can do your "Honey DEWS"!

no offense eieio, but sleepy time tea? for a man , now don,t you think the sherry would be a better idea.i usually have 2or 3 turkey sandwichs before bed time just to tide me over till morning maybe thats it , i don,t know i figured it was the medication im on the doc,s gradually reducing it till im completely off i have another 2 weeks to go so i,ll see i guess but the last 5 weeks i don,t think ive gotten more than a couple hrs a night. oh by the way can always tell what i,ve been eating just check the carpet around my KINGS chair lol.gotta get the vaccum an keep it on one side so i can clean with out too much effort haha .tell dennis i,ll call if i can figure out how to dial that remote lol thanks later ger
