Tiny Black Ants

My home has become invaded with these tiny black ants I`ve heard called sugar ants. It began as just a slight nusiance but now there are ants every where. I`ve had to remove food from my cupboards but find them everywhere else also,
bathroom, bedrooms, l. room, but especially the kitchen. they are even in my attic. I`m not talking about only a few, I`m talking about thousands, probably millions. At first I tried sprating them, it killed on contact. Then I tried bait (honey) and as often as I put a little out I would catch and kill hundreds several times a day. Frankly I haven`t made even a dent in the colony or colonies during this entire last year.
There are more than ever.
I live near Seattle, WA. and could use some good advise. I can`t afford proffessional.

At your local store,in the pest control section, they should have different"baits" including lil"snuff can" size traps and poisons.I have used Raid Ant Baits and Terro liqid for yrs.Ants carry it back to the nests as food, and colony dies out....Also they're seasonal, usually only around for a couple months.

Myra I read your post and felt so bad for you I looked it up on the net, following is one of the tips they had. Type in killing black ants in the search and there are a lot of very inexpensive and easy methods. I sure wish you a lot of luck.

Plant peppermint near entrances or place crushed mint leaves near doorways.

Ants don't like the smell of peppermint. They'll avoid anyplace that smells like it, so start inside with the places you think that they might be entering. Next, do the outside where they might be coming in.

Possibilities: peppermint flavoring (used for baking), peppermint tea, and if you have a health food store nearby-*Dr. Bonner's peppermint scented castile liquid soap*.

I personally used to fill a spray bottle with mostly water, a tiny bit of dish soap(so it sticks), and enough flavoring drops or the peppermint liquid soap so that I could smell it. I just shook the bottle a little and then sprayed away - problem solved. My friend had luck just tossing the tea bags on the floor. (Peppermint Patty)
