More hummingbird info

I checked the web site you guys told me about and mixed more hummingbird food just like you (and the web site) said. My feeder was lasting a week, now I've gone from 2 birds to 7 birds and I bought a bigger feeder because it's only lasting about a day and a half!

I think I've created a hummingbird welfare state. Now all they do is go from the fence to the feeders and back to sit on the fence. Also, one of them is meaner than the rest, he periodically runs the others away from the feeders. He flys into them and they sound like little football players when they crash into each other, complete with little grunts and noises that sound like my modem!

Thanks for the info, those little suckers are going crazy around here now. Hope they eat mosquitos...

Humming birds are rather agressive, and will establish a "pecking order." Don't know if any get hurt in the fray, but they sure will get worked up! watch, enjoy, and have fun!

OK, here's the web site, lots of interesting info:

I'll try to remember to stay out of their way! I've never seen them get that aggressive before, but it's kinda funny listening to them hit each other then grunt and make a little "deedle-deedle" noise, they sound mad! They all eventually settled down, or maybe they took the big one out behind the trees and beat him up...

I have three feeders hung near my screen porch and one bird nose dived into the screen. It was stuck for about 20 seconds until it could wriggle free. Really funny.
I only have a few birds in the spring, but by mid summer they have really increased. I guess I have about 20 birds and it may be more. I think if I hung more feeders there would be even more birds. I'm about to go broke buying sugar. Good luck.

Don't sit in their flightpath or they will nail ya, been hit a few times. They are so interested in running off the others they don't see humans lol
