Mixed hay field help

I would like to thicken up my mixed grass hay fields. I'd like to overseed with brohme. Is this a waste of time or can I mow it low, spread it and disc in lightly? Any thoughts?

If the meadow is thin its more likely a pH or nutrient problem rather than a lack of seeds. First I would get a soil test, county extension agent should have the kits for a couple of dollars. Mixed species is hard to manage properly because the maturity dates are all over the place, if you reseed, kill whats there by heavy disking or spraying and establish what you want.
