I am a psychotherapist who works in an office building in downtown Brooklyn. My office window faces directly where the World Trade Center once stood. I'de like to stay home that day so I wouldn't have to travel around and near the WTC and Ground Zero. However, some of my clients may want to stop by my office and talk about their feelings. My office plans to be open that day. Should I stay home or come to work that day?

Joe, My theory is any excuse for a day off, unfortunately it seldome works. As for me, I spent that morning across the river, on rt.3 in NJ I watched the smoke and collaps of those buildings. I intend to go to NJ on 911 and in exchange I will take a friday and enjoy a long weekend with my wife.
Wish I could say I know how you feel, Seeing it was one thing,,, Living it as you have is totally different.
Best of luck buddy, and remember that we are here any time you just want to unload!!
(not trying to take your job) Grin

If you stay home out of fear or worry of what might happen, the terrorists have accomplished their goal. Life must go on.

No words of wisdom and any great advice, all I can tell you is when you wake up on 9/11 do what feels right to you. If you do what feels right and not what you think is right you will never look back and say, "I should have done this".

if you stay home due to fear, the sum-briches win. but in the end, you gotta do what you heart and head tells you to do. Hang in there you billy yanks!

As far as those "yuppie customers," most of my clients are indigent African-American or Latino on Medicaid, food stamps and other forms of public assistance, hardly middle class.

May as well go to work Joe, lots of people BUY IT running to some imagined safe haven, and those that don't find they would have been better of to have stayed where they were.

My feeling is that the best way to tell the bastards they didn't win is for life to go on as normal.

A few moments of meditation in memory of those we lost would certainly be appropriate as part of the day.

Me too. Take the rest of the year off if you want to, but go to work on THAT day, just to show'em what we're made of.
