I know we all remember that DJ said he was going to be home for 4 days starting today??? I know I did not dream this..(LOL) It is in writing on this board I checked! So being the smart one and knowing that he was going to be home I decided that I would have him a surprise birthday party starting tomorrow invited friends from Houston that was to be here at 12:00 tomorrow gave him time to get home today check in mow the fields and do the honey do stuff, by noon tomorrow before they were to get here. I am venting here if you have not figured that out yet cause how can I fuss at him for working right?? So anyway he was supose to meet another driver near El Paso so he would get home as scheduled well the other driver did not make the switch (which he is okay he stayed to long at a casino). So here I was getting the surpise birthday party all planned and everything was going great (I thought). Long story shorter....DJ is in California headed to Indiana and want be home until next weekend maybe??? So my whole question is the Ford N that his friend was going to bring from Houston for him as my surprise for his birthday SHOULD I JUST LEAVE IT IN HOUSTON AND LET DJ GO GET IT? I did cancel the party but....should I plan it for next weekend a week late are just forget it??? I need some advice on this one cause I cannot ask DJ what he would want me to do after all it was a surprise right?

I would try to have the party next weekend, and If you can have his N delivered I would.
If he doesn't know that he's getting the N he will want to drive it around not ride it around.
As for the party, I can tell you that when I was still over the road, I would call and tell Donna that I wouldn't be home and when I finally got there I would find out that she had plans for us and I really felt like crap. It seems I screwed up her plans and missed a party to boot.
Shoot one time she called dispatch and told him that if I missed the next weekend she had planned she would drive a couple hundred miles a deliver a case of skillet rash to his head!!!!
I know I don't have to tell you this, but bear with it, some day he'll park it, and then you will be looking for a way to get him to stay out a couple of days(grin)
PS if you order a trailer load of bottled spring water I'll be at the party too, and deliver it on my 8N

I would go ahead an have it again for when you Know he is going to be home. If it would have been me I would have had the party and video taped it and when he got home let him see everything he missed. Maybe I wouldn't have done that it sounds to mean. Have it again, it might put him on a guilt trip. Those are fun!!! He'll be packing those bags anyway when he hears about what was to be but wasn't.

If Dj doesn't know about the Ford N I would have your friend bring it and put it in the barn that would still be a great surprise and like you said he is working and he seems to be a great guy. If he is not sure when he will be in you have another problem about having to cancel again. Maybe you could plan it for when he has a short trip and that would really be a surprise since his birthday passed.

I just feel bad for you after all your plans and I am sure you were quite excited about the whole thing.

Let us know when he will be in and we can all send him Birthday wishes on the board. So when he checks in to the KountrySite he will have a surprise there. Just a thought.
