Hello! My name is Kandie Feryanitz and I have an idea. I am in the process of gathering information, ideas, referals, and donation in preparation for submitting a grant proposal to fund my project. What I am proposing is a community farm that also offers education and job training in the ag industry, a community garden/ food bank, and an education and resource center. I am appalled by the fact that in America, the wealthiest nation in the world, we have such a problem with homelessness, poverty, and hunger. These problems have reached epidemic proportions. I am in search of ideas and suggestions, as well as referals and donations. We are in need of things like suitable land, livestock, vet supplies, seeds, feed, equipment, office supplies, etc. I have such a strong desire to help other people, and am very passionate about my cause. I decided to posat a link to my webpage rather than explain everything in detail here. Please visit my website, read the first page, click the Farm Page link, and read that page too. It explains everything beautifully, and gives all of my contact information. Please help me to help others in need. Thank you, and have a great day!

Kandie, what you are proposing is very caring, it was tried in the 60's and 70's and the participants thought it was great while it lasted. The communal system is the backbone of the failure of the USSR. No I do not mean to compare you or your idea to the soviet union.
If I have no incentive to produce, I will not, in a group system the producers will feed the loafers and the loafers will become politicians.
What I am trying to say, and not very well is that you have to LOVE farming to do it. It is hard work for little pay (as I'm sure you know)
The reason the owners of your farm are not intrested is LIABILTY, one person faints and the law suits begin.
Sorry but I don't think it will work.

That makes the third time I've been bumped off. What did I do?

There I got through. Maybe this is something that happens when two people try to get through at the same time.
It gets mighty cold there in MN. When we were living in a tent on property in north FL which my daughter inherited from her husband, the temperature dropped to -5. We insulated with palmetto fronds and a plastic drop cloth and heated with a cast iron pot of coals set in snother cast iron pan. It gets a whole lot colder in MN. Why don't you build a 12 X 12 cabin on that nice dairy farm. Probably some idealistic kids from church would help. You can build it out of 3/4 " pressed wood panels and Sheets of styrofoam. Build in 4 bunks. Find a homeless family who are out of work and move them in. You can't even get food stamps if you don't have a place to cook. By setting the example you can get people started. It's easier to pull a string than it is to push it. With the lay offs and business closings and bankruptcies homeless families won't be hard to find. With a starting place they can get started again, find a job. I guess what I am saying is start where you are. Put your money where your mouth is.

I would put my money where my mouth is and do that here on the dairy if it were my farm. Unfortunately it's not, and the folks that own it aren't the least bit interested in allowing me to do anything on their property. All they're interested in here is working these poor cows to death. The somatic cell count here is off the charts and is very unsanitary conditions. I have made suggestions for change, but all have fallen on deaf ears. this dairy will probably close down before the end of the month. That's why I am looking for land elsewhere. If I already owned the land top start this farm on it would make things a heck of a lot easier. Regardless of the obstacles I face I will continue toi try and make this dream of mine a reality. I need all the support and prayers I can get....

I think the very first thing You need to do is return to Planet Earth, and join the real world!
You dream of a utopia that "dreamers have dreamed of since Adam and Eve".

The closer Nations get to this utopia the closer They are to oblivion.

If You wish to see almost true success, step back a ways and observe the Amish People altho You might find a little more of the "Evil Empire" of Capitalism there than You would like.

Hate to throw water on Your dreams but mahaps in another fifty years You may look back and hopefully see the comical side of it all and laugh. Or, You may just look back with a lot of bitterness. Whatever-------

Ah, Utopia. I remember when I thought it was possible, back in the '60's. Dreams are good, but mine have changed: Now I just dream of a day when my knees don't kill me after being on my feet at work all day. I'm leaving concern for the masses to younger and less disillusioned souls than I.

What you're advocating is a commune, Kandie. With the divergent lifestyles, viewpoints and dreams of mankind, and it takes serious glue to assemble one, and only 1 greedy participant to tear one down. Even Karl Marx lamented these weaknesses of human nature.

Nonetheless, i'm glad you're concerned and trying to help. Regrettably a majority of the world's population is hungry and if the fed minority tries to feed them, our kids will go hungry so guess what. It's a simple fact that people get hungry when they try to live where there's not enough to eat. Thus they don't need help - they only need to move! So if ya wanna help don't feed them - move them.

I'll remind you that anytime you ask for money, that's advertizing. and if you post an ad without paying the site owner, that's stealing and considered SPAM. Nothing's free. :)
