G'Day Nathan,
You are right, the water does go down the drain counterclockwise here. I think it has something to do with magnetic forces from the South Pole. I'm not sure what happens if you live in a country on the equator in say, Africa or South America??? I have never been able to work out why in some nations motorists drive on the right hand side of the road, and others like us jump in the right side of the car and drive on the left. It would make more sense if we were all the same. That way auto manufacturers (exporters)would be able to cut costs by keeping the steering wheel on the one universal side. Another strange one is that when you spread butter on your toast, and you drop iton the floor, why does the buttered side always end up face down? Finally when you are making snowmen and sitting in front of a log fire at Christmas, think of us when we are playing cricket outside with the kids. Christmas day here is usually between 80 - 100 degrees f. Now I know that I am exceptionally intellegent and modest, but some of these questions are for a greater being than I to answer. I'm not even going to delve into lingo except to say that in the US a bum is generally a homeless person, here it is your butt. Here a fag is a cigarette, up your way, well you know what I am saying. I guess Americans and Australians are the same loving and caring folk, but with some minor differences, but why?
You have an absolute bloody belter of a day.
Kind regards

Thanks for the answer and well wishes Craig! You bring up some good questions.

Speaking of driving, can you get small diesel pickup trucks there? You could here from about '80-'84. I got a Datsun diesel from '82. We can buy full size diesel pickups all day long, but not the small ones.

Now, if we could just find somebody that lives on the equator!!!

Its called evolution my friend. Throughout history, populations in isolation from other populations of their own species have taken a different evolutionary track governed by their environment.

Man is just another species and while isolation is a little more difficult today than a hundred years ago, distance and environment are still a factor.

Howdy Bloke feel like chucking a sickie today from the chores. But, my clobber, I am too much of a conch to do this. I guess what I really need is an offsider and I would be rapt with a volunteer. Oh well, have a bonzer of a day!!!
