An Illinois teen-ager suffered second-degree burns when he and two friends smeared their shorts with gasoline and took turns lighting each other to prove their courage. Elgin police said that the boys lit each other's shorts, then dropped to the ground and rolled to extinguish the flames.

"They continued to do this for three rounds," said one officer, until the shorts were so drenched with gasoline that they were unable to extinguish the fires. No charges were filed because, according to police: "Being totally stupid is not a crime."
