I am getting to make my first batch of compost, using a barrel that is turned every day.
I don't know how to fiqure out the ratio of 1 part GREEN to 4 parts BROWN. Green being my kitchen waste, brown being leaves, sticks, hay.

Can someone help me with this? Thanks alot.

Well, the way I'd do it is every time I threw in one handful from the kitchen, I'd throw in 3 handfuls from the yard.

Through a little dirt in there once in a while; topsoil, not subsoil with few organisms.
