Concerning the spam below; [didn't want to be associated with that thread by posting there]. A few years ago, we were in constant receival of subscription mail, ie "subscribe to this and win big bucks by filling in this coupon, your name is in the draw barrel....." etc. etc......so... I filled in there stupid card for a couple of subscriptions....but....no money sent....what I did was told them to take the money out of my winnings, if, in fact, I did win....now, in my books, that would be a fair and just way of doing business.....you got it....never heard from them again, and the best part is, we quit recieving their junk mail....I think I won.....just thought I would share this bit of.....whatever it is..... with you all. Have a gooder, R.E.L.

If i hadn't bothered to click your post and read it, i'd be miles away by the time the PCH van rang my bell! As it was, i got a phone solicitation telling me she was gonna clean my laundry better than ever before. Told her hang up and get over here then cuz we got alot! Spose I'll be waiting for her half the nite .......

Grove r    Posted 10-11-2002 at 09:44:57       [Reply]  [No Email]
Sorry about that, DC, got another one about phone solicitations; we have had problems with a carpet cleaning outfit....one way we have handled it is to play the deaf old coot.....'ehhh, speak up, can't hear ye...carport? ye say? don't need one, hain't got no car'......'ya mean carpet? don't have one, we got a dirt floor....' doesn't take long before they get fed up and hang up... Another way is to talk them to death....about anything and everything, except what THEY want to talk about... after all it's thier dime.....and you haven't had the chance to talk to anyone in a looooong time! I find it is getting to be quit a chalange to come up with new and, I might add, exciting ways to beat them at their own game.....and the joy of it is, you don't have to be nasty.....has anyone else got things they pull on these people? Maybe we could start a "Retaliation Club".....have a gooder, R.E.L.

I like your idea of a retaliation club. MO has a no call list we register with state attorney general. That pretty well put a stop to those calls at our house. One thing that I like to do is take that mail for pre-approved credit cards and stuff. Burn anything with my name on it, put that junk in their postage paid envelopes and send it back to them sure helps cut down on the trash too.

yeah playing Deaf.. and I am deaf! you could't guess how I could understand some of those hearing people trying to say something to me and I know what they wanted so anyway I play deaf on them and THEY know that I am deaf!

When A fellow called offering a phone service, and asked if I was the "payer of the bills?" I dicided to LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!
By the time it was over I had set him up for training and an interview,
Afterwards I felt bad, he thought I was a corporate executive for a competitor, I sure hope he didn't quit that day.

Hi, Ger, how ya bin doin? Got any of that white stuff over your way? Yesterday morning when I got up to go to work, there was about eight inches of it on the truck. Most has melted now, but there is still quit a bit around, way too much for those "warm blooded" hussys to endure...'sides my snow shovels are "man" sized, not designed for the more "delicate", pinkies...... have a gooder, R.E.L.
