I read the posts.
Don't think I can make much sense this afternoon.
The results came out as epylepsy. I still can't understand, asked the doc if this wasn't supose to be a youngsters condition,[i'm not checking my dictionary] and he answerd that in my case he though that maybe something else trigered it, but all the toys they used on me for the past two weeks said otherwise. No tumor , no fracture, nothing.
It all started three weeks ago ,with a real bad sensation in my head and eyes, faint and loose consiousnes and when I regain it , throw up and pee right there on the floor before I can make it to a chair. I mean , don't get sick often. I'm a strong person, phisicaly and in my character.
Gotta tell my children right? How? I hate even the thought of them seen me with one of these episodes..HOYA!!! I'm mad. I thought it had to do with my blood presure, I've been on medication for a couple of years now.
Thank goodnes for the man I share my life with!!
He's the greatest...and so are you guys.
I thought about sending a mail to each one of you to tell you this and then I thought, what the heck...maybe somebody is going through the same around here.
Now i'll go back to reading the rest of todays posts. God bless you all.

You can live a normal life - I know since I've had it for 25 years. Like you it was adult onset - no clue as to why, how, diagnosed throught the process of elimination. Been on two medications - dilantin - keep up your blood work on that one. Now I'm on phenobarbitol - works great as I've been seizure free for years. In the early years I thought that maybe I'm over it and would go off the meds to see - that can be dangerous. I've led a normal life I drive a car, drive a tractor, fly planes, skydive, you name it. I do not let people know except those closest to me, you'd be surprised how judgemental and gossipy people can be, so I no longer take chances with it. I haven't had to tell my kids yet since they're young, but they do know I absolutetly have to take pills for something every day. Do not let it get you down and when you get it under control and know yourself, you will find it's at worst a minor inconvenience.

Thanks a lot for your beautiful thoughts, I guess you did pretty good.:-)

I have a cousin with epilepsy - no idea what brought it on. She takes pills.
I don't know if that's the same thing but my missus had a seizure during midsummer about 8 years ago - it was apparently triggered by a combination of pills she was taking, then an afternoon's exposure to sunshine. About noon that day, she (unusual for her) asked me to stay close cuz "i feel like i'm going to die today". Few hours later she had a gran mal, lost oxygen for a bit too long and has trouble with memory, otherwise no big changes.

Patria / PR    Posted 11-07-2002 at 16:39:28       [Reply]  [Send Email]
yeah DeadCarp, I know what you're talking about, but i'm so positive everything is going to be just fine. I hope she's doing good. So much HOYA eh??

Warm Regards from La Isla Del Encanto :-)

Gotta a 12 yr. old son that has had epylespy since birth. Takes meds for it, with the meds he leads a normal life, including riding in rodeos.
Our prayers are with you.

oh Kraig , I'm so sorry, like I said before I have a younger brother who suffers really bad seizures so I know how it feels to be there when is happening to a love one.
Thanks for your reply.
Take Care.

A lady friend of ours, about 75 years old, has had it all her life. When she was little, her family shielded her from the world and it made a screwed up person out of her. She was not allowed to do and to learn lots of things like other kids. It wasn't the epilepsy that messed her up, it was the attitude of her family that turned her into a fretful, pitiful person, unable to engage or empathize with other people.
She has not had a seizure for over 30 years and she was severly afflicted. I'm sure they'll be able to get you back to normal real soon.
In the meantime, keep your chin up and be glad you have a loving and understanding family. You surely can't be held responsible for this condition which is beyond your control.
Hang in there and know that there's a bunch of us here who are thinking and/or praying for you.

Patria / PR    Posted 11-07-2002 at 16:27:53       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Les...I'm positive now that posting about my new found :-) condition was the best thing I could do. Almost nobody from my family knows yet because I got the final results today, not that I needed them to know; my husband told me what happens to me while i'm unconsious. My 15y/o knows because she lives with me but for some reason when I have a seizure she's not home. And I just told my 23y/o ,explained the best I could. She's ok. Now I have to call my 28y/o boy , he's in the navy flying school; don't know if I should tell him though. This are the times we hate the most about being appart.
I'm not going to seclude myself, you can bet on that.
Thanks Les...

Seems like everybody knows somebody with the condition, that's good, in a way, I think.
Thanks for your reply Donna.

Patria epilepsy is treatable with medication so you don't have to suffer through the seizures. And it can be brought on at anyu age through injury, some illnesses, etc. Hang in there, we're with ya.

Patria / PR    Posted 11-07-2002 at 12:36:05       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Hey LH!
I know, my brother has has it since childhood and he's 41 now, the thing is that even with medication he still suffers the seizures once in a while.I brought home pils of every color, hehe.
I'm gonna be ok.
Thanks LH

LH    Posted 11-07-2002 at 12:38:56       [Reply]  [No Email]
You'll be fine and if one medicine doesnt work well there are others. Plus a few prayers your direction won't hurt either.

I'm positive LH, thank you again    Posted 11-07-2002 at 12:46:54       [Reply]  [No Email]
