After suffering complete defeat with my mole traps thus far this year, I have caught seven moles in the last five days. It's starting to get interesting again. . .

Good cure for moles is to sneek up on a fresh pile then wait, it takes a bit of patience, when the dirt pushes up shoot straight down into the center of the pile. Use big iron 45-70 works real good, then dig him up to see if got him. ( kind of fun actually)

As a kid, I would clean out the hole then go set on the front porch with my 22. Course, back then I could put 5 shots in the same hole. Now, I probably couldn't even see the mound! Pity I can't do that with fire ants. Pouring molten lead down their chambers gives great satisfaction though. (plus ornaments that are great conversation pieces!)

Oh! That's another thought! Introduce fire ants into the area! They will eat all the gophers and moles and anything else on the ground. That includes your bare feet too!

I have aways planted old fashoned soda bottles with about 3 inches of the neck sticking up. Anything that is happening above ground is echoing underground and they just can't take it!! Even groundhog move out of the area. One hint Make sure you put a white painted rock by it. It is a mess to clean up when you forget it is there and hit it with the lawn mower LOL

Have you tried planting Castor Beans? Moles will move out from any areas having Castor Beans planted. The seeds are poisionous, so that might be a consideration if there are small children around.

I've tried traps, poisons, barbwire almost everything under the sun. Best thing I've found so far is a seven year old Golden Retriever. She's a little messy but she's good.

We have a little female mixed breed short legged black dog that adopted us. She is death on moles. Saw her with one this morning!! She is also a terror on lizzards and snakes!
