I checked out that old posting about a Wave Pulse Generator that blasts a wet cell battery with short bursts of energy. Well, being curious by nature I bit. I contacted a Ma & Pa outfit in Canada and bought one of the contraptions. $39 postage paid. Guess what? It works.

I hooked up a battery that had been in a shed for 7 years. Within 21 days the battery was ready to charge. You could tell that the plates where clean of sulphur deposits. I kept a keen eye on the process : like watching a pot boil. After some idiot light on the thing turned green I put it on a 2amp trickle charger for 48 hours. It has held a charge for one week now. If it still is holding a charge next week I'm going to put it back into a crawler.

I'm not sharing this info for any other reason than this: If you farm you got old batterys layin around. Maybe one or two will come in handy later-

Hey Mike, thanks for the update.

Hope you don't mind, I'm going to take the liberty to explain our discussions for those who might think your post might be spam:

Mike's experiment dates from a discussion on this board several months ago. Mike D is a long-time board member, but unlike me tends not to post too often. I was so outspoken a critic of these gizmos that Mike wrote me and we discussed them and my doubts. He decided to splurge on the thing, keep good notes and let everyone know what happened.

So for whatever my word is worth here, this post isn't spam. As the chief (or at least most vocal) skeptic back in those old posts and during our emails since, I'll admit I'm interested. If this thing actually lasts awhile at work, Mike'll be my hero...I've got a bunch of batteries sitting in sheds all over the place. On the other hand, if it fails and Mike admits it (!!) I'll be the first to publically ridicule him for blowing $39 bucks! :-)

Hope y'all enjoy your day!

Thanks Tom,

Now I remember the original thread.

I for one would like to see another update and really find out if this technology is just more snakeoil or really works.

Like everyone else, I have access to piles of 'dead' batteries that I would like to get even one more season out of...

You post back in a month with your results...

Do like you did today without any HTML link or your e-Mail address, and I just might believe...

So far you do have my interest...And THAT is feat in itself...

Right on, Salmoneye, I use about fifteen bateries around here, and if the life span is five years, I need to buy three a year....too many.....needless to say, I do a LOT of switching around....and that creates another problem......battery terminals!! I await with keen interest.....have a gooder, R.E.L.

Les...Huh??    Posted 11-18-2002 at 17:57:12       [Reply]  [No Email]

Like I said...He posted WITHOUT any links, so he aint sellin anything...

Tends to make me more likely to believe his testimonials if there is no link or product name...

Spammers would have had a link to a page and product name...

Not to take anything away from them Canagans en ther good ideas Ger, but most of my batteries work great then are shot. They don't age out and get the plates sulfated up, they open up the connection between the cells.
Later Bob
