When does your mail arrive?-- When do you open it?

I think our mail arrives at the most inconvenient
time of day --12:20 to 12:45pm. If I open it in
the afternoon, it is an interruption in the middle
of my day. I have thought about leaving it sit,
and tackle later--but fear things will get lost
in the shuffle of everyone else coming and going--so I don't put it off. (But I see opening the mail as basically not pleasant--lotsa bills, junk,
etc.) My husband and one daughter don't even
open their envelopes at all!
I cannot change the mail route, but I think it
would be so much more fun to walk the lane in the
a.m. with coffee in hand, listen to the morning
birds feeding, etc. Ahhhh! Then back to the
house to face the mail over the rest of coffee
break when my mind likes to work with dates, facts and figures. Sigh....

I am of a different mindset than you I guess...

We are the last one on the route and depending on the day, may not get our mail till after 5PM...usually about 4:30 though...I would rather have it around noon so that if there is something immediately pressing, I can get it done before 5 on Fridays especially...The way it sits, I either have to get to the bank, or PO first thing next day or wait through a weekend, etc....Hate that...

Ours comes around the same time. My wife and I were wondering why the paper stopped coming and they hadn't sent a bill. We found the bill a few weeks later behind the couch unopened!

Why not leave it til the next morning til you're in more of a mail mood? :)
I get to the PO Box every week or so - toss the junk mail right there and bring the recognized envelopes home for perusal later - we used a mailbox at the cabin, but then i'd let it go for 2 weeks at a time. Have gotten in trouble a couple times tho. My son once asked me if i got the package - about a week later i found a box of fresh fruit (on the back porch, why did the UPS guy leave it there?) frozen like rocks. (We thawed as we needed and they were fine.) Unless we're expecting something special, it's mostly bills & junk mail - i never considered mail a special treat.
