I have only been visiting this site for a few months, got some real quick & good advice on my first bottle fed calf. I enjoyed reading the great info on farming, but there is a lot of personal chatting going on that if your not in the circle you are lost, why don't you just email directly to that person-problem solved.or form a chatroom for the people of this site regardless this is still a great site, learning as we get stronger, everybody is entitled to an opinion and no one should be hog tied for it. With all this
knocking going on it sounds like the city-lol, lets stay country folks.

I know what you mean, Donna. Looks like an old-fashioned clique to me, and I never was one for fitting into people's cliques--too independent minded. But I really do like the way people can disagree on here without getting mad about it!

Hello donna, nice to 'see' you again!!
hm...where should I start?
I have been posting since july. I needed to now if moving my fridge laying down [from the city to the country, you know it's a city fridge] would cause some damage. Entered 'fridge laying down' in the search engine and guess where I landed?
Two weeks later I came back here. I moved to the country and thought that maybe I could learn a thing or two. And I have. I even subscribed to the Country Living magazine 4 months ago.

Now, for "the personal chatting" as you call it, I found it quite funny, even when I didn't understant a bit about what they were saying.
Sooooo I took a piece of paper and started a 'data base' about who's who and the 'where do you live?'line, also droped by to ask what are you guys/gals talking about. I think I started to be a little bit anoying hehe, cause I didn't understand the 'the slang' here LOL.

And on top of it all, i'm puerto rican!! [from PR:-)] Can you imagine??!!

I've met some boarders which has been on this board for years and years, and they are still here. So I guess is just a matter of choices.

Hope you stay around

Patria I still take notes on what is going on, who knows someday we may want to publish a book, but than would people believe it! hmmmmmmmm

Here we are a real assortment of people from all over the world and we are getting along, well sorta. It works though and I do enjoy it even when certain people, we won't mention names, calls me a fat old lady who is losing her memory. hehehe

Burrhead    Posted 11-27-2002 at 16:46:45       [Reply]  [No Email]
it was intended to be innocent enuff EO.

He was'nt really calling ye fat and old he only asked if anybody knew who the fat old lady is. afore I could tellum it was Miss 4teen it had hit the fan...........danged wimmin.

Desitions, desitions...    Posted 11-27-2002 at 16:23:15       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Under which genre should the book be categorized?
Maybe Self Help? or Drama, Comedy, Thriler, SiFi, Saga, Soap-Box, Travel or simply make it an eclectic mix of it all; Kountry Life. LOL

Then maybe again the time might come when only contry issues without the fun personal touch will prevail. I'm a little confused here now:-). Gotta think about where would I fit in. Recipes? Gardening maybe? then I would need to learn your season to season gardening:-). We have a tractor for mowing, and I use it, that's it!!
Confused no more. hehe

oh well...I'm here, for the time being. A it's great!!

DeadCarp - free chat room    Posted 11-27-2002 at 12:19:40       [Reply]  [No Email]
If anyone wants to try a chatroom, i know where there's one. It has some nice features, rarely gets used & lets you know who else is in there -- and if you haven't used one before, they CAN move along pretty fast, so don't worry about typos :)
To sign in, just call yourself something and when the window opens (and all the ads go by) SCROLL DOWN so you can see where to type your message. It can handle a coupla people or a crowd - doesn't matter.
And you can leave it open, wander around and still post elsewhere. Anybody wants to try it, i'll be there awhile.

sorry i missed you in that chat room but it was empty and very easy to get to with your link.

The only problem is Donna, us country folk don't get out much and since they closed most of the feed mills this is where we come to gab:<)

Scott's fantasy world:

If I ever move to a small town, I would like to open up a coffee/snack place where people come to lounge and talk. Nice fireplace, old fashioned coffee, please wipe your feet on the way in (and most likely on the way out!!!).

ger    Posted 11-27-2002 at 13:00:20       [Reply]  [No Email]
think that s a great idea scott, but somebody will find something wrong with it , we have a community association out here basically formed to deal with the nearby town that wanted our farmland all the time , well we decided to build a playground for the newcommers kids cause they were playing on the road at the bottom of a hill by the railway tracks , lady was going to donate 5 acres of her land on the corner , the ones with the kids complained that it would be to close to the tracks we were gonna put up a chain link fence oh ok but if ecevrybody kids are playin there they will want to use our bathroom , we were gonna put some benches out around our little community cause lots of people go out an walk in the summer run into friends an stand an chat well we figured the benches would allowing people to sit an get to know folks a little better , but certain people didn,t want the benches near their corner, ya just can,t figure some people out if they didn,t complain then they wouldn,t have anything to say at all . later ger

bob ny    Posted 11-27-2002 at 15:37:08       [Reply]  [No Email]
some people would complain if they were hung with a new rope

ger /think    Posted 11-27-2002 at 15:45:25       [Reply]  [No Email]

Scott Hansen    Posted 11-27-2002 at 13:14:24       [Reply]  [Send Email]
geeeez, maybe I'll just invite non complainers over to my place to sit on the porch and watch the sunset.

DeadCarp - my dream cafe    Posted 11-27-2002 at 12:55:51       [Reply]  [No Email]
Sounds good Scott. I've often considered getting an old farm place along a state highway (east access) that looks good from the road, plenty of shade etc, alright? THEN add on a nice country coffee shop, setup a little petting pen so the kids have something to do while the folks relax, and away we go! Might call it the "Old Home Place" or something simple.

Could you send me links to your sites, or do you have an ultimate home page?

DeadCarp    Posted 11-27-2002 at 13:21:12       [Reply]  [No Email]
Watch your email Scott - :)

Bob /Ont.    Posted 11-27-2002 at 12:41:36       [Reply]  [Send Email]
You know Scott, I think that is a good idea but untill your franchies opens up everywhere with live conference TV so we can all go in and talk to each other, from out home towns as we do here, we'll likely still hang out here and continue to make a nusance of our selves. It seems that sucess ruins everything, there are some boards that the last ?? was posted a month ago and never answered, if you do reply nobody ever comes back to say they read it, likely because they gave up on it. Some of us may be a pain to some people but this site has lots of traffic and that is what a board needs.

DeadCarp - hmmmmm    Posted 11-27-2002 at 13:16:28       [Reply]  [No Email]
How about a "Cyber Country Cafe"? All the tourists would probly wanna buy a sack of cybers for their cousins! Hey - we just found a way to recycle computer discs! sell them some! :)

Scott Hansen    Posted 11-27-2002 at 13:18:53       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Actually, we could paint country scenes on them, and also sew a bunch of them into a quilt. Bet that would bring a couple hundred.
