Home Made Winch Set up for Trailer I did

This is what I have been working on lately. It is on the front of my Tractor Trailer. It is a 5,000 lb Single Line Pull Rated Rated Ramsey Winch. I had to make a custom mount for it to bolt it on. They are the Red parts should work great to pull them up on. Next project is to put a 1,000 lb rated Crane Boom on the front corner of the trailer with a adjustable jack under it to support the boom when in use. Mark H.

Like your set up. I put a simular one on my 24 ft. goose neck. Problem is I didn't know anything about winches so I told the salemen what I had in mind. I had 7 foot ramps at 27 degrees, to pull 8000 lbs of rolling stock. He looked up a chart and sold me a 3500 lb winch which bearly pulls the slack out of the cable. So now I got to get a heavier winch.

I didn't put on a battery box. Instead I hooked up a plug to the rear of the truck for the winch. I also use the plug to charge the battery on my dump trailer.

Pulling the load up thr ramps is the hard part!! I used a come/along once and found out how nice a winch would be!! I have a wire in my Jack for charging if needed but wanted a set up that could work on any truck. I do have 2-battrys under the hood if needed. The double line pull will be nice if it is a big load. I also have a ring on the rear of the trailer to hook the pully to so I can use the winch to pull loads off the trailer or pull from a angle off the back if needed to get the equipment near the ramps with the 80 ft of cable on the winch spool.
