More gun control

Lately on the news the reports are that the Canadian governments spending on gun control will exceed 1 billion dollars. It was originally supposed to cost 20 million. I fear that this is just the tip of the iceberg. I also see that hundreds of illegal weapons are coming across the border everyday, and only a few are caught. Well now,I wonder if the ones that make it are going to be registerd. I would sure hate to be shot with an unregistered firearm. As much as I love Canada, I cannot understand the thinking behind this gun control nonsense. Why not punish the criminal, instead of the law abiding gun owner, who pays his or her fair share of taxes. Canada is certianly terrified of offending the wrong groups of people. I know this is just a vote getting bandwagon, but there must be more to it than that.

I was staioned in Erie, so not my home grounds and i skipped over a few details but was getting the job done - One summer weekend we wanted to see Niagara Falls, but didn't think ahead about the 25 auto in my briefcase. Here's a big sign at the border saying firearms are illegal but you can park them here, so i thought great, turned it in and got a claim ticket, right? We went on, had a nice few days around Toronto and wandered back - gotta be sure and remember that pistol. Parked at the turnout, got the 25 safely tucked away again and went back on the highway - here's an even BIGGER sign that said: "Welcome to New York State - concealable weapons are illegal here and punishable by a million years etc -- " Oh Sh!t !
Well, we drove careful and kept the darn thing where it was - felt like i was bringing home a poached deer or something! I was never so happy to see the Pennsylvania border in all my life. It was great to be back in greater America. :)

Did that here 20 years ago or so...Was driving around for fun on a Sunday afternoon and decided to cross the bridge from VT to NY...got on the bridge and there is the sign...The Ruger Mark I under the seat made me turn around at the other end of the bridge and have not been back that side of the lake since...

Magpie, just get yourself some cosmoline, kraft paper, duct tape and a shovel, seal them up, bury them in the back of the barn, in five or ten years when the people in power lean the other way, dig them back up. In the meantime, they won't be a *danger* to anyone. john

All them Crown Countries are like that. Got it from England. I guess they forgot, after the Battle of Dunkurk, England didn't have any guns to repell the expected invasion. They forgot that the called on the US citizens, through the NRA, to borrow private citizens' guns. Lot were sent over there. At that time in history they sure were glad the US didn't have gun control.

kraig they brought this in here cause in 89 i think some nut killed 14 women , so a bunch of left leaning lobbists figured heres our chance , now more people are killed in a day in other places , but they fell all over themselves to take our guns away , with more n more violent crime happening here now the law abiding citizens should have a way to protect themselves an alot of people hunt here an eventually that will be taken away from all but a few of the very rich who can afford to pay to keep their guns

ger/ lookin to jail ya now    Posted 12-07-2002 at 09:12:09       [Reply]  [No Email]

magpie    Posted 12-07-2002 at 11:02:50       [Reply]  [No Email]
Ger ya had better register em. You and I and all other law abiding citizens will end up fined and in jail if we don't. Of course if we were gang members and career criminals they would probably look the other way. Wouldn't want to offend anyone.

ger /yup i hear ya magpie    Posted 12-07-2002 at 17:21:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
but it,s gonna go down hard an probably right to the wire, lots of people i know buried theirs but i think , we shouldn,t have to hide stuff that,s our right to have , i bought an paid for mine an haven,t commited any crimes, someday they may realize that it,s people not guns that kill but then again somebody in govnt. may actually have some brains , not ever likely to happen , ya know hilter , stalin an castro all brought in gun control , an we all know where that led, but your right i,ll probably have to subimt an register, but it won,t be willing, thanks ,later ger
