I just got one of these in the mail. It is marked on the envelope and all over inside with notes that say 'by law' I'd better fill it out and return it by Feb.

It is pages and pages long with lots of questions about everything. It even says they estimate that it'll take the average person 2 hours to fill it all out.

This is at least the second or third time I've gotten one of these things...and I have filled them out, but it is getting old. Anybody else get them? Shouldn't they be paying us for all the time (something I already don't have enough of!!) it is taking to fill out the darn forms? And what good are they--seems like nothing good ever comes out of them, so who cares? Is it just justifying USDA jobs in Washington??

thanks to y'all for setting me straight on this.

We always throw them out. They don't need to know anything from us. They already have that info from their satelites. It's just another way for them to try to screw you.

We get them every year too. And just like Craig, we fill them in and send them off because we are afraid not to. We don't need the Feds making an example out of us. As we recieve no payments from any government and don't subscribe to any government programs, I don't know why the Gov. Agents would be interested in us any way. But we do fill it out as best we can and send it in. No use making Uncle Sam mad.

Filling out a Sch. F Tax form gets you on the mailing list fot the census forms. I fill them out because I parinoid. The county has a planning and zoning board that's suppose to come up with a plan for the county. Right now there arn't any zonning laws and you don't need building permits for anything. We have a "Right to Farm and Ranch Law. I like the cencus because I may be albe to use it to document my existing farm. (I always keep a copy of the cencus). May never need it but then again I might.

We got one a couple days ago too. What's funny is that we are not, strictly speaking, a farm. We have 43 acres and raise a little hay to sell. That's it. Oh, and we have 8 old tractors my husband tries to keep life in, once he gets them running. It's a hassle for sure.
