Ok, really nothing will happen, I just wanted you to look at this, and offer you the chance to join my cause!
Lets get the X out of X-mas, I ain't never heard of baby X, and I don't recall the testament that talks about X in the bible, so I just can't shop at a store that has an X-mas sale!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I feel better now, thanx for listening and I hope all of you have a terrific CHRISTMAS!
Later,
Ron

It's just shorthand for Christmas....I'm relatively sure there are bigger problems to be solved, but if that's the worst, then salute to you. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Lynch

Calm down, Lynch, it's only life and you'll never get out of it alive!

Amen, Ron! I was in the post office the other day and the clerk, a Hindi, was offering a customer "Xmas stamps." If I insulted his religion, I would be guilty of a bias crime but it's okay for him to degrade my god? I don't get it. PC has gone entirely too far -- I think my New Year's Resolution will to be as politically uncorrect as possible!

Actually...

The X (Greek Letter Chi) is one of the oldest symbols for The Christ...The mans name is Jesus...He is The Christ...The Annointed One...

Kool, huh?

It's always wonderful when you learn something new about Christ. Thanks for the info. Have a blessed Christmas this year!

Doggone you, Salmoneye    Posted 12-24-2002 at 07:54:30       [Reply]  [No Email]
You beat me to it! Have you been listening to the Glenn Beck show? I already knew it but he made exactly your point on his show last week.

Les...fortunate

As a matter of fact...

I did hear that on Glenn Beck the other day, but I had known it for years...

I learned it young from my Great Uncle Frank who got into a Christmas day discussion with his siter-in-laws sister Ruby over the X in X-mas...This was before I was 10...Uncle Frank was a retired bachelor dairy farmer well into his 80's at the time...He had gone to school till the third grade and that was well before 1900...He was, however, a very well read man...He 'trotted' up to his bedroom and brought back a book that explained about Chi and its' representation of Christ...My Aunt was not happy and still swore that it had to be wrong...

Wish I knew what happened to that book...

Merry Christmas Les!

Ron/PA Sighhhhhhh,,,,    Posted 12-24-2002 at 06:06:05       [Reply]  [No Email]
Egg on my face, BUT if I didn't know it, I'll bet lots of others didn't either!
No that never works (grin) ok I stand corrected and really do thank you for the information. Now that I am armed with this, I can shop in all kind of places, but they better know Greek!!!!

Why are you shopping if...    Posted 12-24-2002 at 12:22:04       [Reply]  [Send Email]
it's the religious aspect of the Christmas holiday that you hold so dear? My father was a minister and he didn't use X-mas, but he did not hold it against others either. Lynch

Geeeze Lynch, I didn't mean to hit a nerve, hope this didn't ruin you Christmas, I just put it up there for the Y of it.
Try to enjoy the day in spite of this, I know it ain't a country topic but I thought it was timely.
Merry Christmas
Ron

LOL    Posted 12-24-2002 at 06:21:01       [Reply]  [Send Email]
This debate comes up over and over...So don't sweat the small stuff ;-)

I understand the sentiment and agree, but even the actual shape of the 'cross' is still being debated...the Romans had 3 distinct shapes that they used for crucifiction...one was actually in the shape of an X...I have always wondered whether the use of Chi (X) for The Christ goes all the way back to his actual crucifiction...But then we would have to scrap a couple billion crosses worldwide...

I study way too much for someone that does not go to church LOL...

Have A Great Christmas!
