Hi Tammy E TX:

Nice to hear ya. Like you, I've been in and out, and lurking for the most part...much as I'd like to offer an opinion sometimes, it simply isn't worth the grief.

I am having a great time here in west-Maryland, got to muck the barn yesterday and use my new manure spreader for the first time! It is the simple things in life that make it worthwhile don't ya know. Was pretty stupid doing it now, as we've had lots of rain and a week-long thaw so I almost dug my tractor in when I was spreading the bottom land. Oh well, live and learn.

Take care, hope everyone enjoys the week.

Spreading here is illegal from the last of November to the First of April...

Sounds like you had fun!

Salmoneye, you are definitely on the wrong side of the Connecticut River. ";^)

'Bout That...

I Do know that while my body and heritage are in the Champlain Valley...My heart and head are in the Piedmont of the Whites...The River is incidental...IMHO...

Long Live The Kingdom...

I'm guessing they're worried about runoff over the frozen ground?

Huh. I spread in the winter based on the same principal as 'frost seeding'. When the ground thaws in the spring and the cracks and heaves open up, the nutrients penetrate better.

I figure, "Don't ask, don't tell"...

Ayuh...Frozen ground runoff into streams and lakes is the theory...

You have to get turned in by a 'concerned citizen' though as there is only one guy doing the investigations for the whole state...Bout the third complaint they will pay you a visit and tell you to stop...after that they start with the fines, etc...

Fooey, I didn't know that. It's probably illegal here, too, everything else seems to be.

But you're right, I had a lot of fun and when the ground freezes solid again, I'll be out there getting rid of the last of my pile. The sheriff will just have to chase me and my old 8N, but he'd best keep his windshield wipers on 'cuz I'll be spreadin' that stuff. :-)

Maybe drawing that spreader to work would be better than the extra brakelights you wanted Tom.

I'd forgotten all about that, Bob, what a memory you have! Yes, the spreader *would* solve the rear ending problem, wouldn't it.

thanks for the laugh,
