with the 6 liter V8 3/4 ton 2wd. Anybody out there got one? If so what kind of mileage do you get driving down the road empty, just the truck?

There was a thread over on the YT side a week or so ago, tractor talk forum I think. Seems like most were getting like Paul says. My wife has a Suburban with the 5.3 and 3.73 gear. Dry weight is about 5300 and it gets around 18. Plenty of power, but haven't pulled anything with it yet.

I have a 2000 6 liter 4 wheel drive an I get 12.5 miles no matter what I am doing. (pulling 3 horses or 100 bales of hay on a trailer.) In town the same thing or by it self 12.5 miles to the gal.on the highway

I have a 2003 2500HD 4x4 crew cab. I average between 10.4 and 11.3 mpg on 87 octane. I haven't towed anything with it to see if the milage changes. It's a great truck...just a little thirsty every now and then.
