I plan on bringing a new gilt home tonight or tomorrow. Following someone's advice I gave her a shot of ivomec thursday and I'm leaving her at dude's place for 48+ hours and once here I will quarantine her for about 2 weeks. Anyway, here's my question...I put up a temp elect fence to form a 20'-0 X 20'-0 pen to quarantine this gilt. It's about 200yds from the gilt I already have. About half way thru building it I realized that it's about 100yds away from my neighbor's horse barn. Is this a problem? (BTW she's about 250lbs, not a weaner)
Thanks,
DR

A lot of horse's are spooked by pigs but you shouldn't have to worry at 100yds. I have my roping arena about 75 feet from my pig pen. Some strange horse are leary about going toward that side of the arena but it don't take them long to get use to the squeelers. Main problem is the horses tear down the feece to get to the pigs food but the electric fence stopped that foolishness.
