are these cheap little ph meters accurate or worth the 15 or 20 bucks. i know it won't tell me the fertilizer needs. it would be nice to check pasture, lawn and different spots in the garden for the ph without going thru the soil test routine TIA gene n ky

Hi Gene:

I don't know about the Ph meters specifically, but I do have one of the moisture meters made by the same folks that look just about the same, and it works very well. I played with it for awhile just to see if it worked and now give them as little gifts to some of my "brown thumb" friends for their houseplants. A couple of them credit the moisture meter with saving their plants.

So my guess would be that the Ph meters also work pretty well.

I had one of those a long time ago and didn't have any luck with it. I had better luck with the kit where you mixed liquids the harder way. Now that I know my soil better, I do the old guess routine. Now that you mention it, I really do need to do some testing again. I think I got the kit at a garden supply store.
