I was wondering...The top of the stove the plates where you set the pans is in excellent condition...Is there something special you put on it to keep it that way......I have never had a wood stove before...It will not be used to cook on ...it is for display and maybe to sell ...thank you..

Hi, The top of stove will change if used with a fairly "hot" fire. it will not get scratched if you don't slide pots or frying pans across the top of stove. High heat will discolor a certain amount, this is usually accepted as normal use. If you do not build large fires in the wood stove there won't be a noticeable change. Various types of wood give off different types of heat, so a lot depends on the kinds of wood you would use in the stove. Cheers, Murray ( Just a note, I did spend 30 years in the fire service and we did get quite involved with wood burning appliances)
