Anyone here wear overalls on a daily or almost daily basis? If so, what are the best brands? I got some Walmart brand overalls, I think Faded Glory brand, for which I shed my Wranglers for when I get home from my day job. They are ok, except the bib pockets seem to slouch down low on my chest sometimes. I know I got them big to give me moving room. Just curious what everyone wears to do outdoor work in. Even you ladies can join in with your work duds.

Liberty is my favorite for quality, durability and price. I love the bib pocket design with the zippered carry all pocket, the snap flap wallet pocket, the two pencil slots, and the watch pocket.

Carhartt is my second favorite. I like the R28 Duck Carpenter Overall with the attached tool apron.

Big Smith and Oshkosh are tertiary favorites, but are difficult to find.

I would like to get hickory striped overalls, the railroad engineer kind. Big Smith, Roundhouse, and Pointer make them, but I like to find one by Liberty or Oshkosh. Does anyone know where to find them?

You can find a huge selection of overalls by Liberty, Big Smith, Key, Dickies, Round House, and Carhartt at at great prices. They even have bib overalls for women and children as well.

I have found that the best overalls on the market are Key Brand based out of Fort Scott Kansas. A great web site that carries all brands though is There you can find just about all of them.

I have been wearing overalls ever since I was a kid! I have about 15 pairs right now.Mostly IKED's,but have one each of Dickey's(denim),Lee's,and Big Blue! I wear them more than jean pants! I wear them to work, play,or relaxin'around the house.
Overalls are worn by many around here(Kingston Ontario) and you see someone wearing them almost every time you go out. They are sooo comfortable. And are considered just another thing to wear.
Hey,anymore,anything goes!

Friend of mines mother wore nothing but Osh Kosh overalls almost everyday...lived in the Beaverreek area of NW Oregon. I have a pair of them and wear them when crawling under things, like houses....they are getting full of little holes, but are still blue as can be.

When I started working for the railroad 13 years ago I wore Whitefield overalls. Allmost all of the conductors and brakemen wore them and had even before my dad started railroading in the early 50's. Can't find them any more and a I'm wearing mostly Carhart. Find them expensive though.

I aint wore nuthin but overalls for 15 years or more now.

I used to think Liberty was good til I found some Round House brand.

They are tuff as nails and way more comfortable than Liberty or DeeCee brand.

I got a few pair of summer Carharts and they're alright except they stay too stiff and chap my legs.

The winter gage Carharts are wonderful in a cold rain.

My husband wears nothing BUT overalls, unless he's going to a funeral, or to church with me (not something he does often). He wears Big Smith, and we buy them at Wal Mart.

I've tried a few brands and wear through them in a hurry, no matter what brand. Carhardt's are good but always seem overpriced to me, for something that won't last me more than a few months.

I've found Dickies is very good quality at a very good price, so that's what I've been wearing the last year or more. Used to buy them at Central Tractor, but after they closed up I found that they sell direct on-line and they're even cheaper.

Granddaddy always wore Tuff-Nutt (had a pair for Sundays only)but I don't know where to get them now.

Burrhead    Posted 02-13-2003 at 18:52:22       [Reply]  [No Email]
used to be when ye bought a new pair of Tuff Nut there was a Tuff Nutt pocket knife in the right front pocket.

I have'nt seen any of them for 25-30 years or better.

Are you kidding? For men, nothing beats the quality and comfort of Carharts. For myself, for the most part, I just wear my wranglers or rockies for working around the yard/farm.

My daughter, that's been doing a lot of interior decorating for other people, (papering, painting, laying tile, etc) Was under a sink fixing a drain.
There were a couple guys watching her. (The owner of the place and his dad.) She had on a pair of blue jeans, she looks down and the fly is open. So the next day, she goes and buys a pair of overhalls.
She came up, from, SC, to help me remodel my house. She was telling me how comfortable they are. So I go to Goodwill and find a pair of 'Old Navy" They fit just fine, and I love them. But for us ladies tha have "to go" pretty often, it's a nuisance the way everything falls out of the bib pocket's everytime.

Key bibs have a flap that snaps closed on the right pocket. Used to wear them just for that when I smoked. Since I quit a few years ago I buy whatever is on sale.
