Found this site while doing a web search for draft horse / old iron. Ever since been trying to convince Mrs. and the boys (11 & 12) that this would be a COOL vacation. Seeking others comments or ways to make this sound more convincing.

Personlly, I like the entire idea and wish more of this type of thing were available for many of today's youth. How about y'all in ND - how's weather in late June? Thanks for your time and consideration.

Shep, I am a Shep also and grew up in Fla!! Been in Wyoming for about 30 years and would not live anywhere else. Went back to visit last week and reaffirmed why I live out here, too many people in your neck of the woods. A western vacation would be great for your family, wagon train or just visiting all the historic places out here. Good luck and good choice.

I went just the other way. I was born and raised in North Idaho. USN sent me to FL for 4 yrs. Rtn'd to Idaho and economy was still depressed. Packed up and headed back to FL.

Been here ever since but I come out to Idaho every fall to go elk hunting with my Dad and brothers. Oh, also to see Mom and Sis :)

Would love to return permanently but got some time in with current employer (10 yrs.) and hoping to stick it out till the bitter end.
Been wanting to buy some land up there but prices are outrageous!

I went on one of those as a kid with my Mom (40 years ago) in Christmas Valley, Calif. Had a blast and remember it till this day. Got to eat out in the open food cooked up out of a old Chuck Wagon. Go for it kids need more stuff like this today!! Mark H.

Hey Shep, you tell the Mrs. that I'll go for her! Would love to do something like this. PBS had "The Frontier House" on late last year, might be able to get it at the library, show that to her. She might come around. If not, I'm in Orlando! :-)

Juliana - Thanks for the kind offer but will have to pass. The Mrs. might clang me with the skillet I show her this posting :)

Meanwhile she claims I am getting to be more and more of a hick the longer she knows me. I told her many moons ago you can take the boy out of the country but you cannot take the country of the boy. Raising my two boys much the same as I was.

Still chuggin in the FL weeds. . .

Shep, hope she does see the merit in going on a trip like that. Why not go with the boys if she really digs in and refuses? I'm sure they would have the time of their lives and not even know they were learning some history.
