[Return to Topics]

really bugged    Posted 02-23-2003 at 10:16:45       [Reply]  [Send Email] friend is once again being invaded by ants....she has tried alot of home remedies and the ants are relentless....and it is cold and snowing (guess I want to be in too) but they are making her crazy. She lives in an older mobile home and they are most likely in the walls, but we are desperate and will appreciate any handy info.....

Interestingly we were housesitting last week and they had ant problems. I cleaned really well and kept the counters clean and dishes promptly washed and the problem went away.
They're looking for food. Take the food away and the problem will at the very least decrease then some simple ant cups should take care of whats left.

Yes, its very hard, but worth the effort.

Sense this seems to be a continuing problem lets see if we can ID the ant first. Go to the link and see if you con find it. If you canít find it do a web search on ant identification. If You still canít Find it you may have to take a sample to a good hardware store to see if they can look it up in there books.

Terro ant killer. Be sure to follow instructions, and protect all other living things from access to the bait. It is a nasty! I used it to get a colony of yellow jackets that were firmly intrenched in a concrete block wall!

rhouston I'll second that    Posted 02-24-2003 at 11:30:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
once you place the bait don't go back until morning. If you look you may want to leave. Used Terro to get an ant problem (just a couple of ants). looked in on the bait at night and the floor was crawling with them (read thousands). after 2 baitings that was the end of it.
