I have never posted much here but did enjoy reading all the farm posts and the funny stories.
I am taking this forum off my favorites list not that I expect to be missed.
Over the last couple of weeks all I keep seeing are posts against anyone who isn't 'like me'. Calling for boycotts, complaining that alien parents want their child to live even if it means entering a country illegally, just plain prejudice rearing it's ugly head. I was raised in an all white farm community during the 50's when racial prejudice was the norm but people it's 2003 and we're still fighting the same ugliness today. I'm a blue-eyed blond so this isn't coming from one of those unwanted aliens but someone who has watched 50 yrs of technological & medical advancements but we unfortunately we still have a long way to go on overcoming our personal hatred for anyone different than ourselves.
Take care of yourselves and treat each other with respect. Bye,Kathy

While you may be thinking you are making a point by leaving, which is your perfect right, arnt you really just withdrawing your voice from the many varied voices and experiences here? In a since arnt you deciding to not stick up for the folks you believe are bing wronged in some way? In some ways by leaving arnt you guilty of the same thing you feel others are doing? That is lumping them into one group. But, I guess you know what you are comfortable with.

Don't blame you. One must feel comfortable in their surroundings. Lots of shall we say interesting ideas here. Enjoy the day and smile at least once!

It seems to me that the complaints are mostly about people who want freebies and special treatment without working for it. Our forfarthers worked hard to build up this country. they came from different countries and learned the language and studied to be citizens and worked to build this country. People who do not want to work and do not want to learn english are the cause of complaint it seems. There is something to be said for tradition and remember your roots I may be wrong but the tradition of our country was work and better yourself. Different people can make this a greater nation but face it, it just ain't happening . Those who refuse to learn english in my opinion are just as prejuciced as some want to accuse us of being. I do not feel we are holding them back they are holding themselves back. I am sorry I do not have the same outlook on this as you do but you calling me prejudice because I feel this way is a type of prejudice in itself is it not.

Kathy, Kathy....Some of us are just getting to......Jimbob    Posted 02-25-2003 at 20:45:43       [Reply]  [No Email]
....know one another as a group. I am feeling things out, asking questions, giving somewhat personal info. Without the other persons in-front of me, plenty of non-related talk makes up the difference. The main focus of this forum- 'Country Living' with related questions is & will continue to serve all of us well. Jim
