We made it!!! We rode for 5 days in the Spanish Trail Ride from Cold Springs to Memorial Park/ Houston and in the parade. It was rough at times but a blast. I did end up in a wagon one day to give my horse a day off. Still had a blast playing bartender and taking pics of everyone drinking this "punch" one guy made. talk about some faces!!! hahah...this stuff caused some good face making and great pics. lol. I had always heard that once inside Memorial PArk there was one big party there. HA!! dont' let no one fool ya. There were a few that made the party rounds but most after taking care of the horses and setting up camp went to bed. Everyone was wore out by then. Lots of beer and little sleep caught up with everyone. not to mention we had to move the rigs into memorial park at midnight the night before leaving not much of a place to sleep anyway. But we had to get up at 5 am every morning and earlier than that parade day. When we lined up for the parade there were horses and wagons as far as you could see in either direction. Quite a sight. Anyway...I'll shut up now. Yall may not even care about it. But just felt like sharing.....byeee...

Did you hear about, or know, the two ladies that almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning on a trailride to Houston for the parade? Didnt get the whole story, but had something to do with sleeping around a portable generator or something.

I think that happened last year. The way I remember it, it was a young boy who was almost killed.

No it was this year. Last year a young boy was killed the same way, 18 or 19 I think. Year before that was a helicopter piolet for one of the Houston news programs. He was a roper. He died at the Reed rd. lot sleeping in his trailer.

Sounds like a good time was had by all.Glad to hear you made it all the way around. Now the question is "would you do it again"? From the sound of your story the answer is YES.I know I would.

I would LOVE to do it again. Not so sure my man would though. I think he was ready to quit by the 3rd day. And he hated Memorial Park because everyone was packed in so close you could BARELY get through with truck and trailer. But if I start now maybe I can talk him into next year. lol. It wouldn't have been so rough on us if we had a trailer with living quarters so we could stay but we went back and forth each day so we could shower plus we had other animals at home to feed. I am hoping next year we will have a trailer and someone to house/crittersit for us.

Well maby by next year you will have a trailer to stay in and critter sitters for the animals. If it is ment to be than it will fall into place for you.

I would LOVE to do that. I think I would rather travel in one of the wagons though, did you set up camp every night, and cook over an open fire? Sounds like a blast. People making music, I can't think of a better way to spend five days. We had something here about a month ago, just outside of town, teepees set up, hundreds of them. I forget what they called it but I will be prepared for it next year even if it's just to walk in and visit.

Someone might speak another language on a SPANISH TRAIL/HOUSTON ride!

That's fine. As long as they speak english as well. Road signs are hel* around here when you don't speak english. :)
