Throw away to toxic chemicals - here's some bug control from the past -

Ants - boric acid, vinegar, cucumber peels, corn meal, and borax

Aphids - lime, mint, citrus rind, alcohol

Beetles - hand picking, drop in kerosene, garlic, and onions

Borers - moth balls, nicotine sulfate, nutshells

Cutworms - Twigs, nails, newspaper, drain tile

Grasshoppers - Feis-Naptha Soap Solution, salt water, fall plowing

Snails/slugs - Hand picking, beer, grape juice, cider vinegar, aluminum foil, ashes

Scale insects - mix of tomatoe leaves, garlic, onions, and alcohol

I use a combination of Boric Acid and Condensed Sweetened Milk mixed into a dough consistency,(use rubber gloves to hand mix), form the dough into small round balls about the size of a marble. Place behind stove, cabinets, furniture, washer, in cabinets, attics, etc. Best roach control!!

DW, in addition to those, chickens or ducks control slugs and snails, and I have used insecticidal soap to control aphids on my roses for years. Dishwashing detergent will also work on aphids, but it has sudsing agents and scents that are not really desired.

Got anything to keep bunnies out? My danged dumb dogs ain't doin' the job...

For Bunnies, try planting clover or wild strawberries around the parameter. That should deter them before they get to the real crops.

Hey DW, You got anything for these dang gnats and skeeters? Other than a cigar.

For skeeters, try Pine Sol Soap Solution sprayed on your garden.
