I'm going to be putting up some electric fence as soon as the weather turns, thinking about getting a solor unit. What do you think about them? Low maintainence? Live in Nebraska, so there is plenty of sun.

Thanks Rob

Get a 12 volt, not a 6 volt, solar powered charger. Our 12V Par-Mak has been maintenance free for about 8 years, except for one $30 battery replacement. The other one is still going on the original battery.

The most important thing to learn about is how to do a good job of grounding the fencer, and that advice goes for any electric fence charger. Without a good ground you don't have a fence.

there a couple of chargers that simply don't cut the mustard, so do your homework! good luck!
