I got called for jury duty. The day didn't start out too good but ended OK.
Got stuck in my driveway, in a snow drift and ice. Called the bailiff, she said the Judge wouldn't excuse me. Called my son to come get me, in the meanwhile I keep trying to get out. Well, I got the van out.
I was a little late, but it turned out OK
We were there all day, and will be there all day tomarrow.
Can't tell you what it's about until tomorrow. But anyway it's no big case.
Renee

Renee, not to be nosey or disrepectful, but didn't you say in one of your earlier post that you were 72 years old? Shouldn't that excempt you from jury duty? It would in any county in my state. I know a lot of people who are excempt as seniors still serve because they just want to, which is fine, and good for them. So many people try and get of JD just cuz, who don't meet any of the exceptions. I get called and it is frustraing for me because I know I will never be picked on a jury because of my profession. It's just a wasted day, but I always go. It just don't seem right that a 72 year old woman stuck in a snow drift and ice should be told that she can't be excused from jury duty.

dg, don't make me any older. I'm only 71.
Yes, I could have been exempted, if I'd told them that I didn't want to be on it. But I kinda felt like it was my duty. So I told them I'd be there.

Good for you Renee.

I've been called for jury duty many times (was excused most because I was out of State with the Army) and have served twice. Always a great learning experience, even if there's usually stuff that hacks me off (like lawyers!).

They called me for jury duty when I lived in CA. It was a drunk driving case. Told them I didn't drink and if they did they were guilty. They politely excused me from duty. Guess I didn't make a good juror for the accused!
