I read a headline that a judge was doing something about the farmers not having access to their water because of the bottom-feeding suckers (I'm not talking about the fish either!) Has anyone heard what the latest is? I can't get into the article on-line to see what's going on.

The Agriculture Secretary decided that 75,000 acre feet of water could be released to help out the farmers. This is about 1/3 of what they normally get, and the crops are a write-off this year, but hopefully it will allow them to save their livestock. An additional 10,000 acre feet will be used to keep the canals saturated to protect the sucker fish.

It's a partial victory, I suppose.

There's no way that would have happened if the Clintonites were still in power!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to see them folks getting something. Hopefully soon, everything will be back to normal and they can get something back for what they lost. Maybe from the eco-freaks that were all up in arms about the suckers to begin with.

The drought is very real this year, and I think they got about all they could reasonably expect. Just be nice if they coulda got it earlier and without so much rancor.

If that ain't the truth!!! I hope the best for them. We're getting pretty dry here but, compared to those folks, I've got nothing to complain about.
