Just say a strange looking coyote, it didn't have any hair on it's tail and the rest of it's hair was splotchy. Has anyone seen one like this? I figure it was diseased because it came right through our pasture by the house. It did not show any interest in our animals and by the time I got outside it was not in a good spot for a shot. The weather has been very cold, below zero at night, so they should be in prime as far as fur. Saw 4 yesterday and they looked in good shape.

I raised 2 coyote pups i caught where i worked and neither of them had hair caught one by placing a shovel over its den hole and when the den collapsed and it saw my big rear falling towards it laid there till i put it in the cage. She immedeately got the used motor oil and sulphur treatment, later on we caught her mate that denned in a pipe on the surface. We took her home and gave them the same treatment , its messy for a week but it kills any parasite like the mange. They quit losing hair and started gaining in another few weeks they had nice coats. We gave these coyotes to my friend that runs them in a fox pen. My neighbors have a dog they spent 1200 on trying to get rid of the mange, the vet kept giving it the medicine and after they had to stop the dog got it back. THey were from town and couldnt believe dad told them to do that to there dog so we mixed a batch up and talked them into not putting the dog down. In 2weeks after the treatment she had started getting hair back.

Its mange,, keep your dogs away from any area it has been in,, Mange stays in the ground, you can get rid of it by using somthing on the ground though, vet could tell you what to use,,,See a mangy coyote, shoot it...Jim

The coyote more than likely has mange (a decease) here in Minnesota our fox have it & it kills them off and it has been going on like this for a few years.
