A friend of mine bought a bird house a couple years back she thinks in Illinois. It is metal and shaped like an ear of corn. It is all painted nice with metal leaves that go out just like an ear of corn. It has one hole for birds and a clean out that opens in the back. I would love to find one of these but have had no luck. Anybody ever seen one or know of anyplace I could check? Any help is appreicated. Thanks

Just a thought but never done it but have done some crazy things with fibre glass.

Make a paper-mache corn cob in 2 pieces, top and bottom. Make them the size where you can fit the top "over" the bottom like a lid. I'd make sure you had 6 X 6in inside. When dry, spray the whole thing with wax, let dry.

Then cover each section with fiber glass (messy, wear gloves) clothe strips working in the cracks and cervices with a stick. When dry put 2 coats of fibreglass resin on it with a brush.

Paint when dry.

Looked around for a bit today and couldn't find anything. Only ones that were made out of corn cobs. Have your friend look on the bottom of hers for a name. Sounds like a cool looking bird house.
