i'm embarrassed by all you *country folks*. no time to help a college person learn about *us*, but you have time to complain about all you have to do on the *farm*.
well, by golly, i'm every bit as busy as you all, wife with a broken arm, a 7 year old and a 2 year old, and all the other assorted things involved with living in the country. i.e. repairing/building fence and corral, field work, building a garage, neighbors cattle out once a week, broken down tractors and vehicles,etc..etc..too no end!!!
but when a*city slicker* asks nicely about *us*, how do *we* respond?!? *we're too busy!.!!*
out goes southern hospitality, neighborliness, down home good manners.
what is this site about? country living/skills/people? (look at the header above)
(that is exactly what she asked us about!)or just more of the same rudeness that is getting worse and worse daily?!?
if you can't take the time to help someone that asks politely for help, then don't complain when the day comes when no one will help you.

Interesting, but there are some nice people here. Just listen they'll tell you all about it.

*sigh*
I had a nasty-gram type comeback all ready to fire into here, and then I thought about it (rare I know) and decided the flame war wasn't worth it. I like it when things are going nice here like they have been.

So I'll explain:
I spent 5 years in college, had to do lots of projects, including ones where I had to survey people. Heres the thing, if you really want to survey county folks, you need to go out to the country and knock on doors, finding people on an internet board really just doesn't cut it. I'm a case in point. I live in Gardner, MA a small city of about 20,000. I live in a third floor walk up, one bedroom apartment. I'm therefore technically a city dweller. Sure I own the family farm, but I get up there for maybe two weeks each year. Even I don't really consider myself "country".
Theres the rub right? If I tell this Lauren Bailey that I'm really country, how would she know? I could tell her I wear my L.L. Bean boots while out slopping the hogs, and make up some story about how I wore my hip waders before when I did it but I slipped and fell and they filled up with pig poop. She'd never know the difference.

So I didn't respond because it would be a disservice. If she needs to interview people she needs to get out into the world and INTERVIEW people, not rely on checking her email every night so I can write her paper for her. Thats academically dishonest, and frankly pretty dumb.

However if you thing giving her your life story is the way to go, then be my guest, but don't come around complaining to me about how rude I am. If you look 9 posts up I'm trying to help with a lawnmower problem. 2 posts down I'm replying about a shotgun question. Sure I don't reply to every question, if I did you'd be saying "Well shut up already, you don't even know anything about this!" when I don't know anything about it I keep my yap shut.

Theres no reason for you to get your britches all in a bunch, ESPECIALLY as she did post her email, and I could have emailed and you'd have known nothing about it. If she needs more responses she can come back and ask again!

Besides it was 5 pages ago.

And all I could tell her about me is, that every chance I get, I lay down and nap on the porch.
Though I may rake alittle today, but that porch looks very inviting.

Sheesh, no sleepin on the porch here, 43* and rainy. Still got a little snow on the ground, way too cold for anything like that. Holding up most people's yard work something awful, its still far too wet to do much of anything.

Its pretty wet here also, SO, that means more of the napping. I have decided to clean up some trees from the ice storm we had a week ago, and cleaned up under the walnut tree...boy they are messy. but I'm losing the will power fast, with the sun out and all.

Since she left an e-mail address, how do you know that nobody responded? Several folks may have answered her by e-mail, although Ron says he tried and his mail came back.

I'm at a loss for the post you are talking about, however I will go look, It might be a bit hard to find since you don't say who "she" is so it's gonna be a little harder to track it down.

Thats what I got my butt ripped for?? I went to that e-mail dropped her a line and it was returned as "not able to deliver"!
I won't get into a discussion of my time allotments, however I rarely spend any time on something that could be spam. If I do, and in this case I did, I don't re-read posts of little intrest.
If you are wanting to chastise me, perhaps you should pick a case with a little more merit, or at least a bit more balance in your favor.
If you are still looking for some help for that young lady, I think you went about it ALL WRONG!
I'll always help out a student if I can, in this case I couldn't. If she re-posts with a valid address I'll bet there will be a few more responses.

Although i can't see which post you're referring to, i've bever been lost for a decent answer here. And usually the same day. However, i'm still gonna pity you for trying to boss a buncha country folks around without bothering to get elected first - who was that, Saddam that tried that? Or maybe you're thinking about another board in which case we're both lost! :)
