I had made an earlier post about a possible retirement move to Eastern Tn.for good trout fishing and warmer weather The follow ups went from come on down to butt out yankee.I grew up on a small farm just outside no albany ny and lived there until I was 35.I then moved 50 mi.north and east of lthere to a very rural area.ON my property are bears deer coyote bobcats fisher etc.I have lived here 26yrs and will always be considered an outsider.Just after I moved in a neighbor said it is people like you who move here and pay high pridces for this land that are wrecking the area. Our kids cannot afford to own and buy land anymore.Wait a moment please,I did not put the price on the land and I was not the greedy one that wanted all I could get for my property. Its kind of what you Tennesseean are saying. We are not the ones cutting and clearing the land for sale, it is the people of your area who own it are the ones that are destroying it.Maybe your should judge any new neighbors by who they are rather where they come from. I was told in all the schools I ever attended that the Civil Was was in truth over.I love the land as much as anyone. thanks dave

It's not the average man selling this land. Just a few money hungry developers who would sell their own mothers for a dollar. Let a farm come up for sale, and the developers are their with high offers that the average guy can't hope to match. There is no way that the developers could hope to make their money back, if it weren't for your kind. And you should bear in mind that the developers can be a group of investors from anywhere. They have no interest in an area. Just looking to make a quick buck from it.

Drug dealers would go out of business overnight, if there were no market for their product. Same priciple at work here. You and your kind are supplying the market for the developers.

So, the countryside disappears while new homes for outsiders spring up. The outsiders tell their friends and relatives "Come on down". More homes spring up, followed by strip malls etc. to supply the new residents. Folks who have lived all their life in an area now hear that we have to extend utilities to the new residents; the schools are no longer big enough, so we have to build new ones; we need new roads; our sewer system is no longer capable of meeting demand; etc. etc. The list goes on. So, the locals watch their beautiful countryside being gobbled up to make way for the outsiders moving in like a plague of locusts, and to add insult to injury, the locals are called upon to subsidize it, by paying higher taxes.

You want to come down, help destroy our way of life, expect us to subsidize it, and wonder why you aren't accepted. I guess you wonder why rapists aren't thanked for their services, too?

Hi there, I hope you don't judge all of us here in Tennessee by what a few have to say, come on down we would love to have you, Hey I might even be your neighbor I live in East Tennessee..

Dave, I agree. If they don't want us then stop clearing the land and building. Here in CT we have lots of weekenders. They bring big money and give a bunch of us work.
Tennessean posted down further that we think they talk funny. When I lived in Kansas they thought I talked funny. There was another guy in town from Long Island that "talks funny like youuu". I'm sure we all talk funny to some.
Before you know it they will have Chinese Take Out, bagels and good pizza down there!

Forget about the Lox tho. Most don't even know what it is. I did find some in Nashville in a specialty shop tho.

Not the same kinda pizza. It's the water or something. I'm serious about that.
Never got used to lox myself.
When I lived in CA and would hear someone talk like me my first questions would be, "where's the Chinese food, pizza and bagels?" That would just shake their heads. Some would tell me they had to come home and get a fix. When I came home I would bring pizza back with me for my ex.
One of my customers had family that moved to CA and opened a pizza place. They brought water in from NYC every week to make the dough.
