DeadCarp - frog guage    Posted 04-26-2003 at 09:01:15       [Reply]  [No Email]
I haven't fished in months, so followed the old rule: When you've heard the frogs croaking for 3 days, grab your spear cuz the suckers are running. Well i fish with a plain hook and worm on the bottom, but only got a rock bass and bullhead last nite. Couple guys got suckers though so the guage still works. :)

Clipper-Guess I'm plain lucky....    Posted 04-26-2003 at 09:05:17       [Reply]  [No Email]

Guess you are at that Clipper ! lol - while we're here and it's Saturday nite -

Chatted with the game warden this morning - (be a nice guy if he got a real job), he asked i was all ready for fishin and i said well sorta - only have the one net to patch anymore and it's not very big - fits right over the end of the culvert. That oughta bring him around for opening day! :)

My buddy Sydney had a funny experience with that warden - he managed to anchor a nice buck coupla evenings before deer season, so he hopped in his pickup and went across the field to drag it home. Almost dark and couldn't find a rope so he strapped the beauty to the hitch with a piece of barb wire. About halfway there he saw headlites coming fast, but he thought if he stepped on it, he'd be across the road before they were. No such luck but the car slowed down, Sydney bounced across the ditch and the warden's car turned in his driveway right behind him. Well, no use runnin now so he just pulled up by the barn, the warden came around & said he'd had reports of somebody shooting - not knowing what else to do, Sydney played along and said - matter of fact i was just coming back from looking for them - looks like they got away pretty quick. The warden thanked him, said keep an eye out, backed around and left! Sydney stoked his pipe and casually walked around back of his pickup. Claimed he was never so glad to see a broken piece of wire in all his life! :) Why can't them fellas find honest work?

But it's a day off for me! Maybe not, go to Newtown and see if they have a tine dethatcher, go to New Milford and take back the mower I rented yesterday. Come home and do bookwork. Still not bad. And got invited out to dinner tonight!
