Watch out when grilling!

So I headed up to Maine last weekend for the big State Hunter's pistol Siloutte shoot and feed.
Yesterday when I was done shooting I looked around for things to clean up and spied the charcoal box from the big grill we had used to cook on the night before. Its about three by four and holds twenty pounds of charcoal. The grill cooks a bunch of steaks and when you're done you take a big stick and push the box out the back side where it flips over and dumps the coals out. The box usually falls on top, so I wandered over and grabbed onto the box to take it to clean and stumbled forward, when I did I dragged my feet into the "ash" only to find out that charcoal was still on fire!!!
I was wearing Teva sandals at the time.
The big problem became the charcoal getting between my feet and the sandal and me not being able to get it out.
Finally I got my sandals off and started soaking my feet good. I came out better than it could have been, I've got some second degree burns under my right toes and a small first degree on the center of my left foot. I'm at work today and managed to drive myself. I can only walk slow but fortunately in this job I don't have to walk much.
We'll see what happens when the blisters open up......

So word to the wise, be CAREFUL when dealing with fire, even if its out!

Dangit Ludwig. One more time and I'm calling you a yuppie.

2 things you need to remember. Water is always wet, and fire is always hot.

Hey Ludwig, Sorry to hear about your accident. Heres hoping you recover soon and without complications. By the way, what do you use for a gun at your shoots? My FIL manufactures guns for that purpose. The XL by RPM. Have you heard of them? Last year he donated one to the Sierria Club in WI. They raffeled it off for $10,000!! I don't know what they got for the one he gave them this year. He is trying to sell the business to one of his other SIL. He decided at 80 years old he likes golf much better than working. Duey

Duey I've heard of the guns and some folks claim they shoot purty good so why spoil it all by donatin ta tha seeairy klub?? thats a right dirty name amongst us country folk in Mo. If they have their way We will be back ta horse'n wagon here'n no roads ta drive em on.Plus tha EPA people don't like road apples and would stop us from even that.

Dang, Ludwig! Will you be careful? Be thankful you don't work in an aluminum foundry -- you'd soon learn to spit on a billet instead of touching it. And they look so cool & innocent, no heat shimmers or anything, just sitting there like plywood ...... :-(
