got a JD732 mower that only gets used once a week for an afternoon, but the blades are getting worn on the ends, leaves too big a gap between them. Now,I just know the JD dealer will want a fortune for a set of them. Question,(1) any one else make blades to fit it? (2) was thinking of having a welder build up the ends with hard rod, then finish them off myself Any thoughts will be appreciated Guineas are due in about two weeks looking forward to them

boy, is my face red, it is a 272 mower, and JD wants about $90 for a set of three. I am going to check on the Gator though, seems like they have quite a following.
thanks guys

I mow for a living and don't really think the Gator blades cut as well. Lots of people like them though.

Last spring I purchased 2 new sets for a 400 series with a 60" deck. Blades were about $12 each from the local JD dealer.

A guy on Ebay sells blades. Got a set for my Toro for $30, they were the mulching blades. Regular were $27. Only 52 inch so yours would be a bit higher I'm sure. To wear them out like that you have used them alot. I wouldn't do the welder thing, balance issues and time and all. I'll see if I can find the blades on Ebay for you.

I just bought a set of blades for my JD mower for $25 at a nearby dealership. Is that too high?

we sure are not talking about the same mower here. There are three blades on the 732, cuts over 6ft wide. No way is JD going to sell one of these blades for $25, let alone all three of them.
but thanks for responding

Check with a NAPA store. I got a good, reasonably priced set for my 46" JD mower there recently. Also got an unbranded set from my local power shop, they're not as good - dull too easily when they hit stones.
