My hubby accidentally stepped on our 7 week old kitten. It scampered under his feet and he squished it really good. The kitten was in shock for awhile after it happened and just sat there making this horrible grunting gasping sound and I told hubby if things got ugly he was going to have to put it out of it's misery. Blood started coming out of it's rearend and I braced hubby for the ugly deed to be done. About 2 hours later kitty started running around and acting like life was grand and now it's a week later and kitty is as happy and active as she can be. That was a close one and hubby felt soooo bad!

That's one lucky cat alright - i'll never forget when we had kittens in the house years ago - i decided to raise an aquarium without emptying it, so was taking my time & slipping 1-bys under each end of the dresser it was on, i felt something shaking, looked down and noticed one of the darn kittens wiggling out on his back with his neck under the very front edge of the dresser. He made it thru okay, but i'll never forget the sight of that teeny neck under that edge like a guilotine. I can only suggest one of the following is true -

1) Either cats have 9 lives,
2) they're fatefully adventuruous,
3) they're dumb as nails,
4) they're way smarter than we are and we might as well admit it,
5) or they're unbelievably lucky! :)

And maybe add #6 seein the way my kitty was bleeding.
#6: they must have an incredible ability to heal-thy-self and one great clotting factor.
