Is the homemade lawn food recipe I have found on this site safe for kids and dogs and how often should it be used? Really appreciate it if anyone knows. thank you.

Yup, easy. Make up some "Compost tea"
Really its just like it sounds, make up some good
compost, the kind where it gets good and black and
smells like dirt. Then put a scoop of that into a bucket of
water, let it set for awhile and spread the resulting slurry
on your lawn thin like. You can use a fairly small scoop
say a quart to a five gallon pail of water.

Easier than that would be to just spread the same good
compost thin over the lawn, your grass will LOVE it.
