Problem Neighbors?

Do you have neighbors that are not nice people to have to live close to? Is it just here or is our society going so down the tubes that people can't respect the rights of others to live on their land in peace? We have these welfare neighbors that just don't have anything else to do but cause problems for their neighbors, I guess. AND they are of some kind of odd religion that has church in their basement---every day---teach their children to shoot weapons of all kinds(they must have quite an arsonal). AND they have found some children from out of state to keep too. They supposedly home-school all these. Of course, they aren't teaching them to clean up their mess or respect their neighbors. And how can they buy so much STUFF? I just can't figure this out. What you think?

Problem neighbors, where to start. About a yr ago, a couple up the alley from us got a dog. Now we love animals, don't get me wrong. They turned it loose to roam,it would get into trash , and it became mean,it was a threat to kids and everyone, it also would fight one of our dogs. Finally it was removed by the pound for good(it had been picked up on 2 other occasions). Then there was a stray showed up nobody seemed to know where it came from. After 5 mos. we took it in, a Brindle Pit, well she was very ill and so far we have spent over $400 on her. At the time the Vet. wasn't sure if it would be worth saving her. She is doing very well now, about a month ago, this neighbor shows up, and says it is his dog. Well after 2 calls to the pound to confirm state law on the matter, and 1 to the police, we established it is now our dog. However he has said he will get the dog back no matter what, he cuss' my 12yr old daughter, in the streets. And he watches my 2 yr old, it creeps me out. This guy is known for being mean, and will do anything. He has been in jail for domestic abuse, dui, and selling drugs. We have tried to sell our home quickly, and privately, but with know luck, we hope to be able to after spending money on remodeling. Which will put us in a lot of debt, but we hope in the next yr. or two to move. We are very attached to the dog, and if he would get her back, we are afraid that he will try to fight her. They have also lost costudy of there 4 yr old son, and he doesn't work, neither does his girlfriend. My husband drives over the road, and is gone for weeks at a time. In the mean time we live in neighborhood hell. So goodluck to those of you in the same position. There doesn't seem to be much to do, the cops make a report, but can't do anything until they break the law.

I'd get myself a coupla big dogs and fence them in around your yard. Nothing like big dogs. Sorry about the noise. Most localities have some kind of noise laws. Some lawmakers have houses in the country, too.

Ana, don't get me started about neighbors! Wooeee girl. I have a few good ones, and mostly annoying ones. We have these neighbors that rent 2 doors down, and all you hear is BOOM BOOM BOOM, with obscenities and incenuations thrown in between the booming, well they call this music, and it comes from their vehicle, and then throw in loud talking and lots of people. Then we have annoying young people next door, how many live there is unknown, all of em have ricer cars, with loud booming coming from those. THen we have the kids that come right into your yard up to your door because they want to see whats in the cage, without asking, (my iguana) then we have dogs running loose, I hate living in a neighborhood, I want peace and quiet when I step out my door, and in two years I will be heading out to the country. I say if these neighbors are shooting guns and it could come on your property, call the law and complain. If they are loud enough to bother you, I usually yell at whoever it is to "KEEP IT DOWN PLEASE"! I haven't got a lot of tolerance for stupid rude inconsiderate neighbors, so go tell them whatever you need to, you have to live there too, and you have the right to live in peace! :) Have ya a good un!

My two cents worth, do not go over there by yourself. Take a friend, your pastor, anybody you trust. Go with someone else, don't be threatening, but observe what you can.If you know nothing more about these people than you describe, don't take a chance.

I have to agree with DeadCarp. Verify your thoughts, then call the local law enforcement. I don't like the idea of having a problem whith my neighbors, but where guns, kids, and possibly a safety situation for my own is concerned I would make sure.

Good luck, let us know what happens.

DeadCarp is....    Posted 06-10-2003 at 09:21:39       [Reply]  [No Email]
right...assumptions are normally wrong. Check it out for yourself and if it is warranted report your findings to local law enforcement. When you talk kids plus guns nowadays the local boys in blue will move fast.....

Absolutely nothing wrong with teaching kids how to shoot...

Don't get me started...

teaching kids to shoot any firearm....when folks forget the word responsibility regarding this then you have the makings of a problem. My interp of the initial post was that these folks are not too keen on teaching their kids properly. My 2 cents and I'm sticking to it....

Well,If they keep their stuff over on their side of the fence .So far, I do not see where they are a problem .Unless they live in Cuba or Red China. But I do not have first hand knowledge of the folks.

I'm with you on this...

Just cuz someone doesn't agree with the way a neighbor lives, is no reason to believe that they are doing anything 'wrong'...My 'neighbors' don't know what to make of me either...And you just might hear an occasional shot or 40 from here...No law against that...Yet...

As for how they afford all that 'stuff'...Aint none of my business...Just like my 'stuff' is none of theirs...

There's the clue - you're guessing. Why not find out for sure, then decide? I'd carry my own coffee and hike over there :) In a short visit you can decide if they pose any threat to your family or anybody and maybe they'll even start considering the rest of the world. Everything makes sense to somebody and people do a lotta stuff at home that they'd think twice about in front of neighbors, so the mere possibility of your presence will help. :)

yea deadcarp is absolutly right about your guessing and assuming. here where we live we got about 20 acres, not a real fancy house, not exactly rundown, but just all together the place doesnt look like we a wonderful place. well here where we we are there is mostly houses on 1/2 acre lots nearby and that sorta stuff, well about 6 or 7 years ago when i started going to a tech school for high school, i met a kid that lived just up the street from me,never had talked to him before in my life, well we are great friends, the same with our whole families, heck we borrow tools from each other all the time, when there septic pipe collapsed i was up there with my grandfathers backhoe and had it fixed in a few hours. all sortsa stuff like that, and a few weeks back we had been talking and he said how he remembered when he was little that his parents told him to stay away from my family and our place, i guess we just didnt "look like good people", well i would say that they dont have that idea anymore about us! so like deadcarp says, dont assume stuff till ya know for sure, just cause they apear to be weird, or low class, or whatever, ya gota look a bit further

You all are talking about Problem Neighbors. Let me tell you what happened at my place today. My boyfriend was out hunting on some property I had resently purchased. He killed a deer and was bringing it in By the time he had drug it back to the 4 wheeler It had gotten dark. The neighbors got his spotlight out spot lighted my boyfriend on my property and shot 3 gun shots. I would have never believed this. This was a man I growed up with. He was my school bus Driver for goodness sakes. Before I had bought the property he had been using it for his own personal hunting and now that some else is using it he is getting very hostile. I called to try to talk to him about the situation. But he yelled histarically and denyed that any of that happen cursed me and hang up the phone. I was so shock. I have live right down the ride all my life and never thought for one moment that would ever happen. There was rumors about him but growing up around him I never believed them.
Rumors like:
He burned his own Neices House with everything she had inside. Also Shooting at her.
And a women that he was fueding with that he shot her horse and killed it.
I do have animals and I hope nothing like that ever happens to mine. If It did what could I do about it.
